Relighting of a Painting

If Petrus Van Schendel (1806-1870) a Dutch-Belgian genre painter had been reborn in today's age, he would for sure be a cinematographer with a keen interest in low lit sets.

His painting had quite fittingly earned him the name of the "Monsieur Chandelle"

I tried to recreate the image in a similar setting by handing it over to the medium of photography while trying to retain the feeling of the bygone age.
